Why Did The Bear Cross the Road?

A Wolcott man has been arrested for aggravated assault after accidentally shooting his hunting partner in Albany, VT Wednesday.

Wayne Goff, 58, and Conrad Masse, 76 of Craftsbury, had tracked a bear using hounds to Urie road when the bear crossed between Masse and Goff. Masse shot off three rounds that each found a different target.

One struck a tree, one struck the bear, and the third struck Goff. Goff was taken to North Country Hospital and then transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, but has been released and is in stable condition.

Masse will appear in the Orleans Superior Court Feb. 20.

No one knows if the bear made it to the other side.
